Bobby Thomas

Robert Carlton “Bobby” Thomas, 54, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2019. Bobby was born on September 24, 1964 at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He lived in Soddy-Daisy for most of his life. Bobby was a die-hard fan of Alabama Crimson Tide football. He attended Orange Grove Center from 1973 to 2018 and participated in Special Olympics for many years. He particularly loved swimming and bowling. He loved music, especially Pink Floyd and Michael Jackson, and dancing. Bobby never met a stranger and always had a smile, a hug and a kiss for everyone he came in contact with. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Lt. Col. Eugene C. Thomas and Betty Thomas.

Bobby is survived by his brother and caregiver for the last 24 years, Tom Thomas (Mary); sisters, Jeanie Westerman (Kevin) and Susan Young; nieces and nephews, Mary Haymaker, Amanda Kirby, Tommy Thomas, Kevin Westerman, Jr., Keith Westerman, Elizabeth Comegys, Brooke Duff and Kelly Hereford and several great nieces and nephews.

Bobby’s family would like to thank Orange Grover Center for their years of work with Bobby; Matthew Whitley and the staff at Manor House and Hospice of Chattanooga for the exceptional care they provided to Bobby at the end of his life.

In lieu of flowers, Bobby’s family ask that donations be made to Orange Grove Center in Bobby’s name.

Services will be held on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. graveside at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Brother Jeff Gann officiating. Visitation is Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
