Paul Revere Leitner

The following is the obituary for Paul Revere Leitner, written in his own words.

Paul Revere Leitner, passed from this life to the next on May 22, 2021. Born in Winnsboro, SC, he accepted Jesus Christ at a young age. A graduate of Duke University and McKenzie College of Law he became an employee and later a partner in the law firm of Leitner, Williams, Dooley and Napolitan for over 60 years until retirement in 2012.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Jeannette. Sons David (Susan), Douglas (Cathy), Gregory (Sheryl), Reid (Sigrid), daughter, Cheryl (Timothy). Grandchildren, Greg Jr. (Melissa), Ashley (Gary), Charlotte (John), Lauren, Simone, Karl, Clara, Oyla; great grandchildren Walker, Jackson and John, stepson Lindsey, sister Elizabeth (Bob).

A member of the local, state, and National Bar Association; he was elected a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He was a recipient of the Chattanooga Bar Association award for the Zealous Practice of Law and the Lifetime Achievement Award. He was listed Who’s Who in America and American Law and a member of the Federation of Insurance Counsel; the International Association of Insurance Counsel; and a life member of the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals bar.

A longtime member of the Chattanooga Track Club, he completed 25 marathons including the 1983 Chickamauga 1 Marathon when his time was the best for his age group in any interstate marathon that year. He was named Young Man of the Year by the Chattanooga Jaycees in 1957.

He was a member of Governor Blanton’s No Fault Insurance Commission. He joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea in 1946-47. He was a member of the Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association and served as President in 1975. He was a member of the Half Century Club and served on the Board of Directors. He was a member of Campus Crusade for Christ (chairman).

Services will be held at First-Centenary United Methodist Church at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

Honorary pall bears will include his partners from Leitner, Williams, Dooley and Napolitan.
