Michael Smith

Michael Howard Smith, age 71 of Easly SC, was killed in a motorcycle accident on Aug. 14, 2021. He was born in Bennetsville, SC on April 30, 1950. Michael was a Marine and fought in the Vietnam War from 1969-1971. He was discharged with Honors, a wounded combat veteran. He worked as a Health and Safety Manager for Bectel Construction Co. He lived ten years in Ten Mile, TN prior to moving to Port St. Joe, Fl in 2017. He was an active member of Beach Baptist Chapel in Port St. Joe, and he loved his Lord.
He is proceeded in death by his mother Mary Ford and his father Carlyle Ford. He leaves behind his wife Debra Smith and two children Jennifer Davis of North Carolina and Brad Smith (Sherry Smith) of Oklahoma; two brothers John Smith (Jean Smith) of Easley, SC and William Ford (Amy Ford) of North Carolina; nine grand-children Jeremy Davis, Lexi Davis both of North Carolina, Kacey Smith of South Carolina, and Colton Smith (Ashley Garcia) of Texas, Kira, Tanner, Tyler, Kaylee, and Ayden Smith all of Oklahoma; two great-grandsons Kason Smith of Texas and Chasten Kennedy of North Carolina; one niece Sarah-Grace Ford of South Carolina
Services will be held at Beach Baptist Chapel in Port St. Joe, Fl. on Thursday, Aug. 26 at 2pm with visitation from 1-2pm. The grave side service will be held at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN on Monday, Aug. 30 at 11am.
