Tribute

Lois Newman Plumlee, 93, of Soddy Daisy, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 25, 2021.   

Lois was born March 21, 1928 to Floyd and Florence Newman.  She graduated from Soddy Daisy High School in 1947. 

She started her career in Florida but then moved back to Tennessee shortly after.  In Chattanooga, TN she began work at American Lava/3M, and eventually retired from GE. Lois was a member of the first ladies basketball team at Soddy Daisy High School. She was an avid fan of sports and loved cheering on the Hixson Wildcats—she never missed a baseball game. Lois enjoyed cooking delicious southern style meals for her family and friends.

 

Lois was a lifetime member of Hixson First Baptist Church and very passionate about her faith.  She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. 

 

Mrs. Plumlee was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Florence Newman; her loving husband of 48 years, John Ely Plumlee; her brother, William Newman; her sisters, Watova Miller, Kathleen Brown, and Alice Keel; and her son, James Ralph Plumlee.

 

She is survived by her son, John (Pat) Plumlee; daughter, Jo Ellen Pearson; grandchildren, Natalie (Ben) Underwood, Jerry (Amie) Pearson, Jimmy (Kristy) Plumlee, Julie (Brian) Chase, Jamie (Larry) Plumlee, Abbie Plumlee; Great Grandchildren, Luke (Hannah) Underwood, Olivia Underwood, Delaney and Avery Plumlee, Makensey and Maggie Chase, Garner Singleton; Great Great Grandchild, Knox Underwood, as well as several nieces and nephews. 

 

A graveside funeral and burial service will be at 1:00pm on Friday October 1 at the National Cemetery with Pastor Terry Shannon officiating. 

 

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Hixson First Baptist Church.
