Joyce Hixson Kidwell Stearsman

Joyce Lee Hixson Kidwell Stearsman , age 81, of Glencoe, Alabama, passed away September 18, 2018. She was born in Daisy, TN on April 10, 1937 to Braxton and Helen Walker Hixson. She was married to Paul T. Kidwell, Sr. from 1953 to 1996. In 1999 Joyce married Jackie M. Stearsman. Both husbands were preachers of the gospel for the church of Christ. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and 2 infant brothers.

She is survived by 2 sisters, Judith Matthews of Flagler Beach, Florida and Donna Alexander (Mickey) of Knoxville, TN.
Six children: Paul Kidwell, Jr., Wetumpka, AL; Laura Boyd (Brooks) Glencoe, AL; Timothy Kidwell (Robin) Branson, MO; Linda Bell-Lopez (Art) Houston, TX; Mark Kidwell, Huntsville, AL; Nathan Kidwell, Foley, AL. Two step-sons: David Stearsman (Susan) Lakeland, FL; Daniel Stearsman (Katrina) Okeechobee, FL.
Twenty-two grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren, a special aunt, Barbara Bates of Birmingham, AL.

Joyce was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a faithful Christian and enjoyed teaching ladies' Bible classes. She loved gardening, all flowers, reading, sewing, interior decorating and traveling. She was a homemaker and enjoyed entertaining in her home.

Services will be conducted at the Williamson and Sons Funeral Home in Soddy-Daisy, TN. Visitation will be Friday, Sept 21st from 10-12 with services following at 12 noon Eastern time. Officiating will be Timothy Kidwell and Brooks Boyd. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to Gospel Broadcasting Network, 8900 Germantown Rd., Olive Branch, MS 38654. Or to the Florida School of Preaching 1807 South Florida Ave, Lakeland, FL 33803.
