Jerry "JR" Smith

JR “Jerry” Smith, 75, passed away on April 30, 2019. He was an avid Alabama Football fan, Nashville Predators fan, and was a dedicated police officer for Soddy Daisy and Hamilton County.  Jerry’s greatest joy was his grandchildren.

His father, Paul Smith, his mother, Louise Heard and stepfather, Jack Heard, precede him in death.

Survivors include his daughters, Lisa (Scott) Zehnder and Cheryl (Charlie) Bibee, son, Sam Smith, brother, Paul Smith Jr., nephew, Mike (Suzanne) Smith, and grandchildren, Lauren and Emily Sloan, Zac Zehnder, Cassidy Bruninga, and Riley Bibee.  He had many lifelong friends whom he cherished. Especially his close and trusted friend, Billy Petty.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jimmy Ball presiding. Burial will follow at Poe Cemetery. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2019 at the funeral home and from 11:00 to 1:00 on Saturday, prior to services.
