Jackie Overton Slatton

Jackie Overton Slatton, 77, of Chattanooga, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 21, 2023. He was of the Church of Christ faith. Jack graduated from Red Bank High School in the class of 1964 and from Chattanooga State in 1974. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969 as a communication specialist. Jack was a longtime youth girls softball coach at Dupont Rivermont Youth Association. He was the owner and operator of S&T Paving Company for many years. Jack was an avid fan of the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball team. The thrill of his life was being a “Pawpaw”. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and Ethel Slatton.

Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Charlene Casteel Slatton; daughter, Cathy Weaver and husband, Kevin; son, Jeff Slatton; grandchildren, Caleb and Morgan Weaver, Seth Weaver and Thomas Slatton; sister, Gail Jones and husband, Dale; in-laws, Walter and Beverly Jones and Ed Casteel; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kevin Weaver and Rev. Ed Casteel officiating. A family burial will be held at National Cemetery.
