Jack Johnson

Jack Johnson, 82, of Soddy-Daisy, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 10, 2022. He lived most of his life on Mowbray Mountain. Jack was a dedicated member of Daisy Church of God and loved his church family. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years at the rank of Chief petty officer. While in the U.S. Navy Jack served on the USS Hitchiti (ATF 103), USS Arikara (ATF 98), USS Ute (ATF 76), USS Ajax (AR6), USS Cree (ATF 84), he was a Tug Master in Groton, Connecticut for 4 years, served with the SeaBees for 4 years in Davisville, Rhode Island, and as a Recruiter for 4 years in Jackson, Mississippi. Jack retired from the U.S. Post Office in downtown Chattanooga after 20 years. He loved all sports and his favorites were golf and fast pitch softball and was very proud of striking out Eddie Feigner of the King and His Court. Jack was “King of the free throw” on the basketball court. He was a huge fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Jack loved gardening and canning so he could share with his friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Flo Johnson; parents, Riley and Lola Johnson; sisters, Viola Johnson and Rita Bess Moses; brothers, F.A. Johnson, Ray Johnson and Jimmy Lloyd Johnson,

Survivors are his children, Xan Cox (James) and Tina Johnson (Eddie Grant); grandchildren, Laura Ramirez (Jonathan), Tyler Terry (Amber Neighbors), Caleb Cox (Mason Shirley); brothers, Quay Johnson (Melba) and Clayton Johnson (Glenda); his special niece and caregiver, Sheila Johnson and several other nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Daisy Church of God. Services will be on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at the Daisy Church of God with Bishop Caleb Bolton officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
