Elmer Hughes
Elmer Lawrence Hughes, 96, of Flat Top Mountain, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021. Mr. Hughes was a United States Army Veteran serving during World War II. He attended Flat Top Independent Church. Elmer was a farmer and worked hard all of his life
He was preceded in death by his wife of seventy three years, Reba Lee Hughes; parents, Sherman and Ruth Hughes; granddaughter, Tonya Hempel; brother, Howard Hughes and a sister, Bernice Green.
Survivors are his children, Helen Sinclair (Leslie), Judy Cooper (Hoyt), Joyce Bradley, Terry Hughes (Diane), Donald Hughes (Anita), Sherry Willberg (Eric), Darryl Hughes (Lynn) and Scott Hughes (Beth); brothers, Wendell Hughes and Cecil Hughes; 15 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services will be on Tuesday, May, 11 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kevin Shelton officiating. Burial will follow at Bowman Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation is Monday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 12:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
