Charles Shackelford

Charles E. Shackelford, 90, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was of the Baptist faith. Charles served his country in the U.S. Army as a SGT (T) and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid coon hunter and loved his hound dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Sylvia Clark Shackelford; siblings, J.W. Shackelford (Dean) and Inez Parker and his wife of 69 years, Wilma Wright Shackelford.

Survivors are daughter, Rhonda Castleberry (Rick); grandchildren, Chuck Simpson (Shanna) and Charla Bowen (Matt); great grandchildren, Chase Mansfield, Gracie Simpson, Charis Mansfield, Rowan Simpson and Anna Bowen; brother, Don Shackelford (Rita); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bobbie Hensley (Bill), Mary Harper and David Wright (Shirley); many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and the many “adopted“ family members and grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Hamilton Memorial Gardens at 1:00 p.m. with his nephew, James Shackelford and grandchildren, Chuck Simpson and Charla Bowen speaking and military honors. Pallbearers will be Chuck Simpson, Charla Bowen, Matt Bowen, Alan Hensley, Jerrell Wright, David Shelton, Josh Bradshaw, Ryan Patterson, Chris Harper and Jess Beihoffer. Honorary pallbearers will be Chase Mansfield, Gracie Simpson, Charis Mansfield, Rowan Simpson, Anna Bowen, Danny Higgins, Mike Higgins and Don Loftis. There will not be a visitation.
