Bobby Johnson

Bobby Gene (BG) Johnson, 83, passed away Friday, September 4, 2020, in his home surrounded by family after being under Hospice care. Born October 9, 1936, Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, Bob was a lifelong resident of Hamilton County and a graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School's Class of ' 55. He was a business minded Entrepreneur in his young adult life. He married his beloved, Betty, July 12, 1957. As their family grew, Bob searched for employment more suitable for raising a family. He was a tile layer, then gained employment at DuPont where he retired after 36 years. When Bob was not working, he and Betty enjoyed square dancing. Post retirement, Bob worked at the Soddy-Daisy Food Bank until his open-heart surgery in 2011. As a member of the Alhambra Shriners, he enjoyed taking children to the circus and other activities. He was a member of Daisy Masonic Lodge F&AM 706. Bob always enjoyed trading cars and talking about the old days.
He leaves his loving wife of 63 years, Betty; daughters Arlene Strickland (Byron), Lakeland, GA, and Angela Johnson, Hixson; son, Brian Johnson (Carla), Blountville, TN; daughters Kathy Prater and Vicky Brady, Chattanooga; grandchildren Keeli Nelson (Steve), Kyle Johnson, Celia McClelland (Jeremiah), Kaitlin Vercher (Daniel), Kelsey Alvarado (Danny), Kristopher Brady, Jessica Callahan, Adam Hawthorne, and Hanna Sutherland; Great-grandchildren Ashton, Hunter, Ely Nelson, Jeremiah II and Saoirse McClelland, Alex Wright and Bryson Endres; brother Billie Johnson (Carol); several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Della Johnson; sister Undine Harvey, and brother Herbert Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Daisy United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 8 at 11:00 am – 1:00 pm with Funeral service immediately following in the chapel at Williamson and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Hancock. After the service, interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
