William Benton Brainerd

William Benton “Bill” Brainerd, 74, of Chattanooga, passed into the arms of Jesus on Friday, November 13, 2020. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam Era. Bill was a graduate of St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas with a B.S. in Business Administration. He worked most of his professional career as an independent Project Control Scheduler. Bill was an avid golfer and experimental gardener. He was huge “Bama” fan. He loved to pray and intercede for his friends, family and country. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Cones Brainerd; father, D.B. Brainerd and sister, Melissa Gore.

Survivors are his wife of 30 years, Marcie Brainerd; children, Douglas Brainerd (Cari), Patrick Brainerd (Sydney), Jonathan McGlumphy and Scott McGlumphy; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; sister, Angela Socha (Jeff), several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Graveside services will be on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. Bill West officiating. Those who plan to attend please meet at the funeral home by 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning to travel in procession to the cemetery. Mask are required at the service.
