Volna Clyne Beard

Volna Clyne Beard (V.C.) went home to be with his Lord on July 4, 2022 at age 86.

V.C. was born to Arla William Beard and Frances Scoggins Beard on August 5, 1935 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He graduated from Bradley County High School in 1953 and later spent four years in the United States Air Force. 

V.C. met his wife, the former Lois Ann Wattenbarger in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1958 while attending Indiana Tech. They married December 20, 1958 and went on to have 4 children. The family spent the majority of years residing in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee but also spent time in Decatur, Georgia and Montgomery, Alabama.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving husband and father, V.C. also loved woodworking, reading, gardening, and teaching his Sunday School Class at Oak Street Baptist Church in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, where he also served as deacon and treasurer. Throughout V.C.’s entire life he held an unwavering faith in God, helped counsel those around him when asked, and shared his faith readily to everyone. 

V.C. was preceded in death by granddaughter Laura Callie, daughter Pamela Yvonne, his brother Arla Daris, and his parents Arla William and Frances Scoggins. He is survived by his spouse Lois Ann; his children Suzanne Beard, David (Angelia) Beard, and Timothy (Sina) Beard. Grandchildren Katelyn (Anthony) Donato, Carrie (Daniel) Albritton, Apsara, Sydney, and Ethan. Great-grandchildren Addie, Charlotte and Lauren.

A Memorial Service will be held at Oak Street Baptist Church, 11340 North Oak Street in Soddy Daisy on Thursday, July 7th at 2:00 p.m.
