Silas Luther Fletcher, Jr. “Jay”, 80, of Dayton, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. He was a Christian. Jay served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Shangri-La. He was a blessed man from humble beginnings to a successful business owner and having a fruitful life. Jay loved time with his family, especially when bowling. He was a strong willed man who enjoyed a good discussion. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Luther, Sr. and Edna Fletcher and was one of 9 siblings of which 3 also preceded him in death.

Survivors are his wife of 55 3/4 years after just 2 dates, Teressa Robertson Fletcher; children; Traci Smelas (Tom) and Shane Fletcher (Cheryl); grandchildren, Nick Doyon (Julie), Breanne Doyon, Katie Smelas and Shaina Smelas; great grandchildren, Jonathan, Grayson, Zane and on the way, Jax; beloved sister, Joyce Daughtery, other siblings; several nieces and nephews as well as a special relationship with Trace Higgins.

Due to restrictions with COVID, the family has requested a private service at National Cemetery in Chattanooga.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Chattanooga Food Bank in memory of Jay.
