Robert Tate Benton

Robert Tate Benton, 88, of Soddy Daisy, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021. Bob grew up in Middle Valley before moving to Soddy Daisy in the 1970s. He was a member of the Middle Valley Church of God. Robert served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Robert retired from DuPont and ran a local trailer park until his death.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Verna Benton, and 3 siblings, Herman Benton, Jerome Benton and Maxine Schaefer.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Gwen Benton; and son Roger (Alice) Benton; daughter, Robin Benton; sister, Henrietta (Lloyd) Lovelady; two grandchildren, Matthew Vandergriff and Haley Shetter (Jimmie); one great grandchild, Gavin Shetter and several nieces and nephews.

Services and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Chattanooga or the Alzheimer’s Association.
