Rene Guionnaud

René Albert Guionnaud, 81, of Chattanooga, Tennessee went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 26, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ana Guionnaud and brothers, Marcel and Jacques Guionnaud.

René was a devoted husband and a proud father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a loyal friend and mentor to so many whose lives he touched. He especially loved, and was endeared by his family, for his role as Opa. More than anything, René loved to make people laugh and he never, ever met a stranger. He always greeted everyone with a joke and woke up many mornings yodeling. He loved Jesus and was a dedicated member of Grace Point Assembly of God, Hixson, TN. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard for 8 years, he was a talented salesperson all his life, and most recently was the past owner of Truck ‘N Trailers USA which he courageously founded when moving from West Palm Beach, FL to Chattanooga in 1992. He was a resilient cancer survivor and a committed member of the Grace Point Oncology Ministry where he faithfully served sandwiches and snacks to patients, families, and staff every Monday at Tennessee Oncology, Memorial Hospital for the last 20 years. He was endeared by so many for his charismatic charm, his relentless humor, his never-ending crazy hats to make people smile, and his genuine empathy for those impacted by cancer. René was a member of Chapter 27 Sam’s Dixie Travelers for over 15 years and served in a variety of leadership roles. He loved to travel and cruise the world and was fortunate to explore Israel, Germany, England, France, Alaska, and beyond to visit his beloved children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Carol Guionnaud; 5 treasured children, René Guionnaud, Jr. (Teresa), Robin Honaman (Dave), Lisa Moore (Tom), Heather Amico (Guy) and Eric Guionnaud; 15 loving grandchildren and 3 wonderful great grandchildren; dear brother, André Guionnaud (Dottie) and extended family.

A celebration of René’s life will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Terry Evans officiating at Grace Point Assembly of God in Hixson, TN. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Thursday before the service at the church.
