Phyllis June Arney Brown, 70, was born in Russellville, KY and died July 17, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Thornton Brown and parents William Ernest Arney, Jr and Loma Dorothy Arney. She is survived by one sister, Linda Sue (Dick) Wilson, one niece, Jennifer Lyn Wilson and one great-niece, Dagny Katherine Wilson along with numerous well-loved cousins.
After the death of her father when she was four years old, she, her mother and sister moved in with her grandparents. It was a loving home with lots of contact with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She attended Morrison School for 11 years and, after consolidation, attended her final year and graduated from Manchester High School. She worked at Walmart for several years and at the MTSU bookstore. She attended Middle Tennessee State University for three years and then started in the Occupational Therapy Program at UT Memphis. Phyllis was an auditor for Advertising Checking Bureau in Memphis, Tennessee for many years. Upon retirement, she returned to Chattanooga to help care for her elderly mother.
Phyllis enjoyed family gatherings, reading and watching movies.
Services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 2 pm in Williamson and Sons Funeral Home in Soddy Daisy, TN. Visitation will be Fri from 5 to 8 pm and Saturday from 1 to 2 pm. Interment of the cremains will be in Decatur Cemetery, Decatur AL.
