Peggy Shipley Swearengin passed away peacefully at her home on June 26, 2022 at the age of 80. Peggy was born in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee and worked at Children’s Hospital ER as a nursing tech from age 18 until her retirement at age 63. She loved to tend her flowers when her health allowed and in later years spoiling her grandchildren was her joy. Cooking was her love language and if you ever came to her home she fed you! What a heavenly breakfast was had on her homecoming morning.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Swearengin; her beloved daughter, Melinda Knight; brothers, Harold, Wm, Sam, Leon, Red, Dave and Charlie Shipley; and her parents, Wesley Shipley and Pearl Steakley Shipley.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Sheila Wilson and husband, Randy Wilson; sisters, Wanda Culver and husband, Frankie Culver; and Pat Bowman and husband, Jerry Bowman; brother-in-law, Jimmy Swearengin; sister-in-law, Carol Rogers; son-in-law, Aaron Knight; grandchildren, Leah Conroy, Adam Wilson and wife, Kate Wilson, Chloe Knight, Dedra Skwiot and husband, Gabe Skwiot, Meagan Knight and Aaron Knight; great granddaughter, Lexi Conroy and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation on Friday, July 1, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Eddie Frye officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East, 4621 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, TN 37411.
