Mary Ellen King, 73, passed away on June 30, 2021, at Soddy Daisy Health Care Center. She was a 1965 graduate of Soddy Daisy High School and a graduate of Tennessee Tech University. She was best known for her career as a Registered Nurse. She served in the Army Nurse Corps during the Vietnam War and went on to be a Nurse Manager at Erlanger Medical. She also was a nurse in Taif, Saudi Arabia in the 1990’s. Her last two jobs were at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Chattanooga and at Alexian Brothers on Signal Mountain.
Ms. King testified that she received Jesus Christ as her Savior on October 23, 1956. At the time of her passing she was a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Hixson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cairl and Dorothy King; daughter, Andrea Rene King; and ex-husband, Willie Howard Turner.
She is survived by her granddaughter Brianna (Anthony) Murphy; stepson, Howard Turner, Jr.; son-in-law, Julian Richard Dickson; and great grandchildren, Jedidiah and Aliyah; as well as a host of close friends.
