Marvin Thomas Stuart, 96, of Soddy-Daisy, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 20, 2023. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946 and was a veteran of World War II. Marvin was a machinist for 33 years at Combustion Engineering. After he retired, Marvin worked for Tennessee Granite and Bronze, American Door and Window and Sullivan Garage Doors with his son-in-law Leonard Sullivan. He was a 40 year member of the Soddy-Daisy Fire Department. Marvin was instrumental in establishing the Soddy-Daisy Jamboree Music at the Community Center. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ruth Stuart; daughters, Francie Howell and Vickie Sullivan; sons-in-law, Leonard Sullivan and Jerry Smith; parents, George and Ruby Stuart and siblings, Harold Stuart, William Stuart, Wilma Hickman, Frances Barber and Barbara Argenbright.
Survivors are his daughter, Suzanne Smith; son-in-law, Jerry Howell; grandchildren, Michael Davidson (Debra), Amy Gibson (Ron), Sean Sullivan (Kyrie), Eric Sullivan (Melanie), Brad Sullivan (Joni); great grandchildren, Andrew and Cooper Davidson, Sydney and Tyler Gibson, Donovan and Rylie Sullivan, Shelby and Jacob Sullivan, Brady, Emily and Brannon Sullivan; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bishop Calvin Nunley officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
