Minnie Ethel Margarett Purvis Van Winkle , 79, of Soddy Daisy, passed away on August 5, 2017. Born on August 18, 1937, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Warren Orvil Purvis and Grace Ethel Murray. Margarett was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who raised a family structured on the love of Jesus Christ through the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Warren "Sonny" Purvis; grandson Josh Rose; and great-granddaughter Hayley Ledbetter.
Margarett played a key role in animal rescue by helping hundreds of pets find foster and forever homes.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda (Bob) Rose, of Sante Fe, Texas; Louise (Herb) Ledbetter, of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; Rosie (Kevin) Owen, Hixson, Tenn.; three sons, Donald Van Winkle and David Van Winkle, both of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; and Robert (Karen) Van Winkle, of Spring City, Tenn.; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grand-children.
Family wishes in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pet Placement Center, 5975 Dayton Blvd, Chattanooga TN 37415.
Services will be 1:00 P.M Wednesday at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Harwood officiating.. Entombment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
