Loyd Melton Hodges

Loyd Melton Hodges, age 72, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021 surrounded by family.

He was born January 21, 1949 in Abilene, TX to Walter Earl Hodges and Zadie (Bales) Hodges.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Wayland C. Hodges and Philip R. Hodges.

Loyd was a veteran of the Vietnam War, US Army, 101st Airborne Division; “The Screaming Eagles.”

He was retired from TVA, having had a long career at Sequoyah Nuclear Plant in Operations (Shift Manager) and at Watts Bar.

He was an Elder for 12 years at Hixson Church of Christ and at Clear Creek Church of Christ in Hixson, TN.

Survivors are his wife; Jane Lee Hodges; sons, Barron A. Hodges (Breanna), Daniel L. Hodges (Amanda) and John W. Hodges (Ashley); grandchildren, Isabelle Hodges, Gabriel Hodges, Jack Hodges, Jesse Hodges, Joanna Hodges, Weston Hodges and Henry Hodges; siblings, Walter A. Hodges (Thelma), Sharon H. Armke (James), Sandra H. Watson (Steve), Barbara H. Martin (George) and Beverly H. Stonecipher; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Loyd will be dearly missed by all who knew him and worked with him over the years. Loyd’s unwavering conviction to the Lord, family, and friends was on display his entire life. Being completely at ease with passing from this life into the arms of God, Loyd has triumphed in his journey at last. He now eagerly awaits to see us with him. 

Services will be held at Clear Creek Church of Christ (Hixson, TN) on Monday, October 11, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. Minister Josh Diggs will officiate a short memorial service beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Burial and a veteran’s memorial service will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery with family in attendance.
