Louis E. Taylor of Hixson, Tennessee, went to meet Jesus at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 27, 2021. He was of the Baptist Faith. He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with degrees in Engineering, Physics and minors in Mathematics. Louis was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army. Upon leaving the Army, he joined the space program at the Martin Company in Orlando. He was a senior design engineer on the Saturn V Rocket that would land on the man on the moon. Once the moon landing was accomplished, he returned to Chattanooga and switched his career and attended Northwestern University and joined the Traffic Engineering Department for the City of Chattanooga where he worked for the next thirty years. He held the positions of Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and President of the Tennessee Institute of Transportation Engineers.
Lou enjoyed woodworking, hunting and anything that he grew.
He was survived by his loving wife of sixty three years, Patricia Ann; three daughters, Cathy, Patty and Trina; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services. He will later be interred in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
