Joseph (Joe) Rath Jr, age 58, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Saturday, January 22, 2022 after a long, hard-fought battle with Metastatic Melanoma. He is survived by wife, Wendy Grayce Rath; children, Brett Rath (Alecia) and Heather Coffman (Steve); grandchildren, Ryan, Brian, Olivia, Jillian and Rosalie; siblings, Barbara Such (Bill), D.J. Rath (Becky), David Rath (Gina) and Lisa Waters (Mike); father-in-law, Jerry Haller; many nieces and nephews and extended family. Proceeding him in death was his father, Joseph Rath Sr; his mother Lori Rath; and his mother-in-law, Carol Haller.
Joe was born in Buffalo, New York. He went to school in Depew, New York until his family moved to Clearwater, Florida where he graduated high school. Joe loved cars and aviation. His love of aviation led him to work in the aviation industry for many years. In the mid 90’s he moved to Anchorage, Alaska where he met and married the love of his life, Wendy. After staying in Anchorage for many years, Joe and Wendy moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee where Joe worked for Service Electric Company. Joe truly enjoyed the warmth provided by all he worked with at Service Electric Company.
Joe enjoyed traveling, snow machining, camping, hunting, fishing, being outdoors, working in his garage and spending time with family and friends. He was skilled with his hands and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. He was a fun-loving person that lived life to its fullest. Joe had a laugh and smile that was contagious to all he met.
Joe was a devoted family man who was fiercely protective of those he loved. He was the type of person that loved helping others. He was a proud husband, father and Papa who loved the Lord and his family, especially his grandchildren, more than life itself. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He will be forever missed by those who knew him and always in our hearts. His family will love him Always and Forever.
A Celebration of Life for Joe will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 6:00pm with Pastor Mike Battles officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00pm at the church on Saturday before the service.
