John Smith, Sr.

John D. Smith, Sr., 79, of Rocky Face, Georgia, formerly of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away January 8, 2018. He was a member of the Rocky Face Baptist Church. John was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean War. He was a member of Carpenters Local 74 and he retired from TVA.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Stella Smith; wife, Gladys Smith; granddaughter, Jackie Smith along with one brother and three sisters.

Survivors include his sons, John (Tracy) Smith, Steven (Mary) Smith; daughters, Debbie Smith, Sharon Smith; brothers, Marvin Smith, Charlie Smith, Perry Smith; sisters, Betty Jo Godfree, Joyce Teters, Tina Smith along with twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11:30 A.M. Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton County Memorial Park. Visitation is 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
