Joan Chauncey

Joan Chauncey, 84, of the Mowbray Community, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 7, 2018. She was a member of the Mowbray Church of God where she was a faithful Sunday School teacher who taught all the way up to her passing. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Grant J. Chauncey, Sr.; parents, Riley and Maggie Mae McClendon and brother, Billy McClendon.

Survivors are her son, Rev. Grant Chauncey (Correne); daughter, Cynthia Bowers (Rick); brothers, John McClendon (Nellie) and Robert McClendon (Judy); sisters, Tanna McClure and Jane Smartt (Leonard); grandchildren, Andrew Chauncey, Jonathan Chauncey and Ryan Bowers.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 9, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services will be on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mowbray Church of God with Rev. Grant Chauncey officiating. She will lie in state at the church from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church Sunday before the service. Burial will follow at Granny Walker Cemetery.
