Jimmie Lou Mulkey, 83, of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, died on April 7, 2023, with loving family by her side. She was born in Soddy-Daisy, the daughter of the late Jim and Margarette McDonald. She was a lifelong member of Soddy United Methodist Church, where she grew up as a child, was married there to Frank Mulkey, raised her two sons, sang in the choir and remained a faithful member and servant until her death.
Jimmie Lou and Frank grew up together in Soddy-Daisy. They began dating in high school, where she was a cheerleader. In 1957 she was crowned Homecoming Queen and he was her escort. They were married for 65+ years. Jimmie Lou was employed by Norton / Saint Gobain as office manager for 36 years.
A devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished Grandma, Jimmie Lou loved spending time with her family. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, and reading. She was an excellent cook and passed down many of her “secrets” to her family. She was also an avid reader and a frequent visitor to the Soddy-Daisy Library.
Jimmie Lou is survived by her husband Frank, two sons Greg (Cindy) and Patrick (Don); granddaughter Sarah Verink (Tyler); and grandson Gregory. She is also survived by her sister Nina Templeton and brother Gary McDonald (Connie) along with cherished nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by sister Ruth Lewis.
The family will receive visitors from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 9 at Williamson and Sons Funeral Home in Soddy-Daisy. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Soddy United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, Jimmie Lou requested memorial donations be made in her name to the Soddy-Daisy Library.
