April 3, 1947 - October 1, 2021

Jennifer "Carol" Whitten, 74, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away early Friday morning on October 1st, 2021, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. Our Mother fought long and hard but is now resting peacefully in Jesus. She was the best Momma and Granny we could have ever asked for. Mom was known for her sweet smile, infectious laugh, sense of humor, generous spirit, kindness, and goodness to all she met. She loved her family fiercely and wanted nothing more than their love, which she abundantly received. Mom looked forward to holidays and gatherings so she could cook and spend time with her family and friends. She loved spending time outside in her garden with her many beautiful flowers. 

She was born in Paducah, Ky to the late Jim Thomasson and Jeanette (Rutherford) Thomasson. Carol is also preceded in death by her very special and much-loved sister Jammie Poat.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Michael Whitten, of Chattanooga, TN; two daughters, Jennifer Daniel and husband Mike of Chattanooga, Dawn Jeffries and husband Sonny of Soddy Daisy; one son, Shane Sawyer and wife Paula of Knoxville, TN; four grandchildren, James, Kristie (Jared), Amber (Josh), and Kayley; four great-grandchildren, Ava, Emma, Jet, and Lacey; and of course, Miss Sophie, her four legged daughter. She is also survived by many more special family and friends.

Visitation will be from Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 4 pm - 6 pm in the chapel at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Memorial Service immediately following at 6:00 p.m.
