Charles Jay Hamrick

Jay Hamrick, 48, passed away on November 18, 2020. He was a graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School (Class of 1991) and was the Store Manager of 84 Lumber in Chattanooga.

He loved spending time with all of his family. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, kayaking and grilling out for himself and others.

Jay was a very loving and caring father to all of his children which he greatly enjoyed spending time with. Anyone that knew Jay, knew that he was always the first in line to lend a helping hand without expecting anything in return. You also knew that he was always trying to make everyone laugh with his distinctive sense of humor.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Mary Hamrick, maternal grandmother Yasue Iwakoshi of Okinawa, Japan, and his uncle, Rick Hamrick.

Survivors are his daughter Mary Grayson, sons Cole & Jaxton. His parents Jerry & Kaoru, sister Midori Marcano, brother Lee (Misty), uncle Phillip (Shannon), nephew Brandon Wells, & cousin Tressie Hamrick.

Jay-Bird, you will be greatly missed and there will forever be a hole in our hearts that cannot be replaced.

With all of the above said and following his wishes, well-wishers are encouraged to write a note of farewell on a beverage of their choice and drink it in his honor.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday 11/22/2020 and there will be a graveside service at Varner Cemetery in Soddy at 11:00 a.m. on Monday 11/23/2020.

Reverend Fred Doss Sr will be performing the graveside service and the Pall Bearers will be long time friends Wade Wright, George Wright, Chris Grizzle, Fred Doss Jr., Eric Renfro, & Noel Adams.
