James “Eddy” Hatfield, 68, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020. He was a musician in Nashville, playing on the Hee-Haw Show and with various entertainers. He was also a member of Randy Hatfield and the Cedar Creek Band. Eddy was also a truck driver for Smith Freight and Roadway. Les Paul himself awarded Eddy his Les Paul guitar on the Grand Ole Opry stage. He was a member of Guiding Light Community Chapel.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Kathleen Hatfield and nephew Joey “Shorty” Young.
He is survived by his siblings, Gary Hatfield, Nancy (Walt) Davis, Randy (Al) Hatfield, Mary Ann Oliver, Kathy (Lloyd) Young, and Sherri (Roy) Styles; nieces and nephews, Mandy, Scott and Brian (Beth), Jean “Beanie” (JohnE), Walt Jr., and Chad, Paul, Trish, Jody and Beverlee, Candi, Britany (Eli) and Neelie, and, Michael and Andy. He is also survived by several great and great great nieces and nephews; as well as his dog, Bama, and best friends, Willard Bowling and Joey Grant.

Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with Bishop Jackie Penney presiding. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends and loved ones on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
