James E. “Big Jim” Murray, 73, of Soddy Daisy, passed away July 7, 2018. He worked for over twenty years at Combustion and thirty one years for Price Brothers and Thompson Pipe. Jim had a passion for sports and his kids and grandkids. He was a longtime coach in the Kids Club for various youth sports. As a result of the many relationships he developed through these years, most that knew him, referred to him as “Dad”, “Papaw” or “Coach”. His influence and love will be dearly missed.
His parents, Leo and Hannah Murray; a brother, Wayne Murray and a sister, Carol Murray preceded him in death.
Jim is survived by his wife, Joyce Murray; two sons, Jim (Anita) Murray; Gary (Ashley) Murray; grandchildren whom he cherished, Madison (Brent) Davis, Marissa Murray, Eli Murray, Logan Murray and Peyton Murray, several nieces and nephews along with his extended family, Lloyd and Jenny Lively.
Visitation is 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday. The memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Combs officiating.
