James Jay "Nub" Clift

James Jay “Nub” Clift, 94, of Hixson passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019. He served 8 years in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WWII. He was a member of Mile Straight Baptist Church. He attended Soddy Daisy High School.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben J. and Lillian Clift; wife, Pauline Clift; siblings, Eric Clift, Mary Alice Mills, Dorothy Gann, Gene Clift, and Leslie Clift.

Survivors include his son, Jimmy Clift (Lavonda), daughter, Brenda Craig (Richard) all of Soddy-Daisy; and daughter, Carol Tankersley (George) of Chattanooga; sister, Carolyn Watson of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, Eric Clift, Lauren Cottrill; great-grandson, Steven Cottrill; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, June 7, 2019, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Al Goss and Pastor Tom Goss officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with military honors. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 6, 2019.
