James Burton, 79, of Pikeville, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019. He lived in Middle Valley before moving to the mountain. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. James also served in the U.S. Army. He was a carpenter for most his life. James was an avid fisherman and huge Gamecock fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Eva Burton and sister, Glenda Sue Harvey.
Survivors are his children, Rita Mabry (Mitchell), Jamie Garrett, James Burton “Jimmy”; siblings, Donnie Burton (Ellen), Karen Hensley, Gary Burton (Margaret), Scooter Seale (Jimmy); grandchildren, Christal King, Jacob Mabry, Joseph Thaxton (Barbara), Amanda Lewis, Kera Wilson (Jeff), Kendall Burton; several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at National Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
