James Edward Anderson, Sr.

James Edward Anderson, Sr., 86, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. James was a member of Grace Bible Church. He grew up on Houser Street in North Chattanooga and graduated from Kirkman High School. While in the U.S. Army he was stationed in Germany and trained as a diesel mechanic. He was the owner and operator of a trucking company in Chattanooga for several years and then opened a garage for diesel repair. Later he worked at R.P. Scott Construction as their diesel mechanic. He retired from Rock Tenn as their diesel mechanic fleet maintenance manager. James was a private pilot. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Sallie Evans Douglas and Maynard Anderson; sister, Bernice McClendon and grandson, James “Jimmy” Edward Anderson, III.

Survivors are his wife, June Ward Anderson; children, James Edward Anderson, Jr. (Nancy) and Benita Stamey (Gene); mother of his children, Juanita Elrod Reed; grandchildren, Nathan Rickett, Kathy Lawson (Bob), Michael Dunn (Jenna), Jessica Stamey; great grandchildren, Lily Dixon, Abby Dixon, Sydney Lawson, Emmitt Dixon and Jase Anderson and nephew, Bobby McClendon.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Steve Atwood officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
