Homer E. “Rick” Ricketts, 90, passed away Friday, October 19 in a local hospital surrounded by family members.
After graduating from Soddy Daisy High school in 1947, he joined the U.S. Navy and served two years. Returning to Chattanooga, Homer began a 30-year career at DuPont. His second career was spent fishing on Soddy Lake, where he found great joy and developed many friendships.
Homer was preceded in death by his parents, Clin and Beatrice Ricketts, a brother, Clin Jr. and a sister, Loretta Hargis. He is survived by sisters, Billie Jo Curvin (Soddy) and Wanda Davidson (Soddy); sons, Mike (Janet), Bill and Tom; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special friend Bill Fritts.
The family wants to thank Lynne Curvin (niece) for her love and support while serving as Homer’s caregiver the past four years during his illness.
Following Homer’s wishes, there will be no visitation and the family will hold a private memorial service.
