Glenna Johnson

Glenna Hamaker Johnson, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on October 9th, 2021.  She was 80.

Glenna was born in Toney, Alabama to J.C. and Wilma Hamaker.  Her family moved to Lenoir City, Tennessee where she also attended business college.  She married her loving husband Bob in 1964 to whom she would be married for fifty-one years.  In 1967, Glenna and Bob moved to Hixson, Tennessee.  Glenna was a member of the Clear Creek Church of Christ.

Glenna was best known as an accomplished storyteller.  She preserved the family histories of the Powers, Hamaker, Johnson and Morgan families through her creative stories.  She was also an avid food enthusiast who enjoyed baking and cake decorating.  She had several recipes published in the weekly Food section of the Chattanooga Times-Free Press.  

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Johnson, parents, J.C. and Wilma Hamaker, and brother T.C. Hamaker.  She is survived by two sons, Darren (Kathy) of Nashville, TN and Ryan (Karen) of Soddy-Daisy, TN, five granddaughters: Bethany (Miles), Emma, Hannah, Sarah Kate, and Esther, one great-grandchild (due in March), sister-in-law Anna Hamaker of Decatur AL, as well as several nieces and nephews.  

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 13th, 4 p.m. - 9 p.m., and Thursday October 14th, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 a.m.  A private burial ceremony will take place at the Chattanooga National Cemetery following the service.
