Roy Witt
George LeRoy “Roy” Witt, passed away July 4, 2019. He was born May 2, 1941 to Carroll LeRoy and Jean Chapman Witt in Spokane, Washington. At age seventeen, he joined the United States Navy and was a deep sea salvage diver for ten years. In the late 60’s he settled in Chattanooga because he fell in love with the mountains in the area. He worked various jobs throughout Chattanooga. He married Carol Christian in 1981 and they built their home in Hixson and have enjoyed thirty eight years together. Roy was an avid outdoorsman, and loved hunting and camping with his sons. He was a champion racing pigeon owner and in his later years, he raised peacocks. He also enjoyed sitting on his deck over-looking his pond of Koi.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twin sisters, Sharon and Sheryl.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; two sons, Neil (Lisa), Charles (Marquetta); daughter, Melissa (Darryl) Tyson; five grandchildren, Cecily, Tyler, Chelsea, Michael and Dustin and one great-grandson, Jayson Simmons.
The memorial service will be 12:00 P.M. CST, Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the Faith Baptist Church, 503 Betsy Pack Drive, Jasper, TN 37347, with Pastor Billy Waters officiating. Visitation is at the church from 11:00 A.M. CST until the time of the service.
