Tribute

Gary Frederick

Gary Dean Frederick, of Soddy Daisy, TN, passed away August 30, 2020. He was 82.
Gary entered this world in Letcher County, Kentucky, on October 26, 1937, the son of James L. and Garnett Frederick.

Gary graduated from City High School and joined the US Navy at age 17. He proudly served for two years on the USS Des Moines, and then for 37 years as a member of the 241st Engineering Installation Squadron Air National Guard. He was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

Gary was an athlete, coach, umpire, and sports fan. He shared his passion with his children and grandchildren. Gary, who never met a stranger, was a kind and compassionate man who dearly loved his family. He laughed often and much; won the respect of intelligent people; the affection of children; and left this world a better place. A successful man by any measure.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents James and Garnett Frederick; and sisters Dianna Banks and Greta Davis.

His survivors include Donna L. Frederick of Soddy Daisy, his daughters, Starr (Tom) Popp of Hixson and Glenda Hedrick of Ooltewah; sons Jim Frederick of Ooltewah and Randy Frederick of Ooltewah; grandchildren, Colton Popp, Haley Popp MacLellan, Bryson Popp, Selena Popp Harman, Orrin Hedrick, Blake Hedrick, Jimmy Frederick, Erica Hickman, Jarek Frederick; great grandchildren, Killian Hedrick, Aidan Frederick, and Emery Smiley.

Gary was the parent to Amber Ledbetter Davis, Cassie Ledbetter, and the late Brandon Ledbetter.

Gary is deeply missed and lives on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A special thank you to Cassie Ledbetter and Jenni from Hearth Hospice for their loving care.

His family will be having private services in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors.
