Freida Whitaker

Freida Whitaker, 74, of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 19, 2023. Freida never met a stranger and told anyone that listened about all God has done for her. She loved her Rechoboth Baptist Church family and has served faithfully for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herschel B. Rogers and Ruby Bowers Rogers.

Survivors are her loving husband of 52 years, Garry L. Whitaker, Sr.; son, Garry L. Whitaker, Jr. (Vicky); daughter, Angela Cooke (Jay); sister, Betty Hodges; brothers, Bill Rogers (Teresa), Lonnie Rogers (Lisa), Roy Rogers; her grandchildren that she adored, Chase Braswell, Andrea Johnson (Jerome), Hannah Cooke, Jonathon Cooke, Jayce Whitaker, Callie-Ann Cooke; great grandchildren, Ariah Johnson and her sweet dog, Maggie-Jo and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Visitation is Tuesday, January 24, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rechoboth Baptist Church and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Services will be on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at the church with Rev. Alan Stewart and Rev. Paul Forgey officiating. Burial will follow at National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Rechoboth Baptist Church or the Chattanooga Downs Syndrome Society.
