Dr. Eric Trent Lane

It is with great sadness that the family of Dr. Eric Trent Lane, 81, announces his sudden passing on October 12, 2019 at his home in Chattanooga, TN.  Eric will forever be remembered by daughters Carmen and Vivian (Greg), grandchildren Alisha and Hunter, sister Ruth, brothers Carson and Mark, former wife Kathy, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Dr. Lane was born and raised in Louisiana.  He was predeceased by brother Barrie, parents Trent and Elizabeth, and wife Chantana.  He graduated with a BS from Louisiana State University, a MS and PhD from Rice University.  Dr. Lane retired from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga after 37 years as a Professor of Physics.

Dr. Lane won several awards for groundbreaking Apple II animated waves and particles programs.  He dedicated more than 65 years to understanding human nature and behavior, spending his last years helping people in numerous ways, especially wounded warriors with PTSD.

A celebration of life will be held at UTC’s Patton Chapel, 615 McCallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37403 on November 9, 2019, 2:00 p.m.
