Clara Jean Dutton Chandler, 77, of Hixson, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2020. She was raised in Alcoa, Tennessee and lived in Hixson since 1968. Clara was a member of First Baptist Church of Soddy-Daisy for 50 years. She graduated from Alcoa High School and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Clara taught school at Soddy-Daisy Junior High and East Ridge High School and retired in 1998. Clara taught home economics, and was loved by her students, and many of her former students are professionals in the culinary arts. She was a member and former president of the Soddy-Daisy Women’s Club. Clara was a devoted wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Cloeva Dutton and siblings, Warren and Ralph Dutton.
Survivors are her husband of 56 years, C.M. Chandler, children, Robert Chandler (Sherri) and Julie Dean (Ken); grandchildren, Connor Dean, Alex Dean, Joseph Chandler and David Chandler; siblings, Linda Wallace (Jack) and David Dutton (Carol); sister-in-law, Alice Dutton, several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services will be private with family.
