Charles McAfee

Charles Glen McAfee, 87, of Soddy-Daisy, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, four days after the love of his life, Alice McAfee and two day after his birthday. He was a longtime member of Oak Street Baptist Church. Charlie served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from Chattanooga Group where his was lovingly known as “Pop” and on occasion played Santa Claus. He loved raising a garden to share with his family and friends. Everyone who knew Charlie knew they could count on him. He would give you his last dollar and the shirt off his back. Anytime we needed anything fixed he was our go to man. When he said goodbye he always said, “God loves you and I love you.” He was also preceded in death by his parents, Darrell D. McAfee and Ruby Grant McAfee and his uncle, Charles Grant McAfee.

Survivors are his daughter, Sherry Skiles (Rick); grandson, Wes Skiles (Meagen); great grandchildren, Reese Skiles and Barrett Vastano; sister, Anna Sue Yother (Edd); brother, Darrell Lloyd McAfee (Sandra); nephews, Mike Yother (Julie), Mark Yother (Susan), Tracy Yother (Donna), Tony McAfee (Cindy); nieces, Kris McClure (Al), Shannon St. John (Joey); several cousins and extended family.

Visitation is Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Grant Chauncey and Rev. Alan Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at National Cemetery.
