Billie Eldridge

Billie Carol Eldridge passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, December 31, 2019. Billie was born on August 30, 1929. She was a graduate of Sale Creek High School, where she was valedictorian of her class. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, William Gene Eldridge; parents, Luther Ervin McEwen and Winifred Wynns McEwen; brothers, Malcolm McEwen. Tommy McEwen. Marshall McEwen and Ronald McEwen.

She is survived by her two sons, William David Eldridge (Abby) and James Michael Eldridge (Sherry); five grandchildren, Melissa Stiefel (Malcolm), James Michael Eldridge, Jr. (Jessica), William Davis Eldridge (Kylea), William Andrew Eldridge (Katie), Kaitlyn Eldridge Rogers (Caleb); two great grandsons, William McEwen Eldridge and Elijah James Eldridge; sister, Nancy Burton and devoted friend Sybil Cannon.

Mrs. Eldridge was a proud retiree of TVA, where she worked many years in the medical department at Sequoyah Nuclear Plant and Chattanooga. She was also active is various business groups. She was a member of Sale Creek Presbyterian Church and most recently attended Soddy United Methodist Church.

Billie enjoyed traveling, laughing and joking with her family during weekly Sunday dinners, cheering her sons and grandchildren in their sports activities, socializing with friends, and watching her two great-grandsons play and grow. She loved her morning coffee and newspaper.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Monsignor Al Humbrecht officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
