Barry Dennis Long Jr, of Soddy Daisy, passed this life on Friday, August 23, 2019 at the age of 42. Barry was born in Minot, North Dakota to his parents Barry Sr and Sharon. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jack Long and Ollie Austin, his maternal grandparents Ralph and Wilma Harvey, and his son Isaiah Gabriel Long. He is survived by his wife, Wealthy Ann Long; his son, Chance Eros Long, his daughter, Ella Grace Long; his stepchildren Arianna Faith Harris and Shawn Avery Harris; his father Barry Sr and mother Sharon Long, his brother Nick (Dana) Long, and sister Megan (Rick) Sutherland, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins a niece and a nephew.
Barry was a graduate of Soddy Daisy High School and then served his country with distinction in the United States Army Military Police Active Duty and Reserves from 1997-2005. Specialist Barry Long deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraq Freedom and to Afghanistan and Djibouti in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Barry earned two Army Commendations, the Global War on Terror medal and an honorable discharge.
His beautiful smile, big heart, courage, love, selflessness and protective nature will be greatly missed by many.
Graveside services will be on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
