Barbara Ann Raines

Barbara Ann Raines, 79, of Soddy Daisy, TN passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at home surrounded by family.  She was born March 29, 1940 in Daisy, TN and remained a lifelong resident of Soddy Daisy, TN.  Barbara graduated from Soddy Daisy High School in 1958 and married the love of her life, Troy Raines, on August 28, 1958. 
While raising three boys, Barbara obtained her Associates in Teaching from Chattanooga State Community College and both her undergraduate degree (summa cum laude) and graduate degree (summa cum laude) in Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee of Chattanooga.  Barbara taught elementary education for the Hamilton Country School District for 20 years.
She spent her retirement years gardening and traveling the world with her husband.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Airabell Alexander.  She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Troy Raines, sons Troy (Dana) Raines, Jr., Mike Raines, and John Raines all of Soddy Daisy, TN.  Barbara also leaves behind grandsons Matthew Raines, Jacob Raines, Joshua Raines, Isaac Raines, Silas Raines, and granddaughter Sarah Raines to cherish her memory.
A private interment will be held at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
