Arthur Brooks “A.B.” McRee, III, 87, of Soddy Daisy, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019. He was retired from DuPont, and a US Navy veteran. A. B. was very active in Soddy Church of Christ serving as a Deacon for the majority of his life. He enjoyed woodworking and traveling with friends and family. Many of his wood carvings can be seen in homes and yards throughout the Soddy Daisy area and are on display on the carousel at the Chattanooga Zoo at Warner Park. His family and friends will always remember him as a kind and generous person who also had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie P. McRee; parents, Brooks and Reita McRee; and brother, Jim McRee all of Soddy Daisy.
Survivors include his sister, Martha Hawkins (David) of Soddy Daisy; daughters, Karen M. Mathis (Rick) of Soddy Daisy, Joan McRee of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren, Lee Mathis, Erica Mathis, both of Birmingham, AL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at Soddy Church of Christ with Ministers Bill Greer and Joel Danley officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 4, 2019 in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. Visitation is at the church Monday, September 2, 2019 from 5:00 P.M.to 8:00 P.M.
