• Hixson Community Center Officially Open

  Saturday, December 01, 2012 to Tuesday, December 31, 2013

  Hixson Community Center, at the former Hixson Middle School is open M-Th 9 a to 8 p, Fri 9 a-9 p, & Sat 10 a - 9p. Programs include Jazz Walk, Ultimate Frisbee, Low Impact Aerobics, Bingo Battles, Train Stations, and Teen Programs. Teen programs conducted by Prevention and Youth Development Department include grilling, fitness, education, and media production. The recreation center was 12 years in the making. There will also be art classess, Zumba and yoga, personal finance, gardening, hiking, biking, canoeing and more. The facility is 25,000 sqaure feet and will truly serve as a place for families to grow.

• New Support Group for Those Suffering Infant Loss, Infertility or Miscarriage

  The support group "High Hopes" meets monthly at Grace Church of the Nazarene. There is also an on line group on Facebook at High Hopes: Infertility/Miscarriage/Infant Loss Support Group. See the attached flyer for more information.

• Hospice of Chattanooga Support Groups

  Hospice of Chattanooga provides FREE seminars, information, tools, and help coping with the loss of a loved one. They offer support for families, homicide and suicide families, and even grief healing through yoga. They can be contacted at (423) 892-4289 or www.hopiceofchattanopoga.org.

• Soddy Daisy Food Bank serving North Hamilton County

  Tuesday, January 01, 2013 to Tuesday, December 31, 2013 : 12:00 AM

  Soddy Daisy Food Bank located at Soddy United Methodist Church distributes food every Thursday from 9:00 until 11:00 AM to qualified area residents from north of Boy Scout Road and west of the Tennessee River. They serve about 350 families a month. In 2011, they served 820 families. They purchase food from The Chattanooga Food Bank. They depend on many dedicated volunteers. • North River Civic Center

• North Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce Meets the 3rd Thursday of each month

  The NHC Chamber meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at Soddy Daisy's Budweiser Plant. There is a special speaker at each meeting and lunch is served . The cost for the meeting is $10.00. • Golden Needles Sewing Group

  The Golden Needles Sewing Group meets every first and third Thursday from 10a to noon at Middle Cross Baptist Church, 4009 Norcross Road in Hixson. Participants bring sack lunches and sew items for use in nursing homes, hospitals and clinics.   The Dallas Bay Baptist Church Northgate Campus Lifetree Cafe Center in Hixson, 4976 Alpha Lane, across from Chuck E Cheese hosts its "Power Lunch" the third Thursday of the month from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM. The luncheon is a time for business men and women to to gather andf learn Biblical principles they can apply to their work, family, and fatih. Ther hot lunch is $5.00 at the door. May Events

• Memorial Day Veteran Recognition

  Thursday, May 23, 2013 to Wednesday, June 12, 2013

  Over 200 crosses and flags have been put out in front of the Soddy-Daisy City Hall to memorialize veterans. Each cross has a name of a deceased veteran on it. If you know of a name to be added, call W. V. Roberson at 332-2823 or 240-1413.

• 2013 Fishing Rodeo

  Saturday, June 08, 2013 : 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM

  The 2013 Fishing Rodeo hosted by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 942, will be June 8th from 8 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with the weight in at Soddy Lake Regions Bank. Fee is $5.00 per family or $1.00 for chidlren under 12 years of age. FISH DINNERS fro $8.00 (takeout too). 2 pcs fish, fries, hush puppies, slaw & baked beans. (after 11:00 a.m.)
