  • Sequoyah gets new steam generators
    Sunday, January 01, 2012 to Monday, December 31, 2012

    Sequoyah Nuclear Plant is installing two huge steam generators to replace the old ones. The new generators will be installed by cutting a 70 by 15 foot hole in the roof of Unit 2. A 1,600 metric ton crane will be used to remove the old generators. This will be done during an outage in late 2012.

  • SDPD (Soddy Daisy Police Department) Crackdown

    SDPD is crackinig down on drug abusers as they do not intend to put up with thieves and drug dealers in our city. Two arrests were made at the Ivy Academy on Montlake Mountain, one a sibling of a student that did not attend school there. Police Chief Phillip Hamrick is working closely with principal, Angie Markum, to stop any illicit activity. Ms. Markum invites police to come and have lunch, get to know students, and have a high visibility in the school.

  • Soddy Daisy Food Bank serving North Hamilton County

    Soddy Daisy Food Bank located at Soddy United Methodist Church distributes food every Thursday from 9:00 until 11:00 AM to qualified area residents from north of Boy Scout Road and west of the Tennessee River. They serve about 350 families a month. In 2011, they served 820 families. They purchase food from The Chattanooga Food Bank. They depend on many dedicated volunteers.   • Fourth Annual Minner Hole Lounge Bike Ride for the Elderly Big Success

    The fourth annual Minner Hole Lounge Bike Ride for the elderly was successfully held and raised $3,532 for their fundraiser. Many area bikers participated including "Bikers First", Soddy-Daisy Commissioner Geno Shipley, police escort Mike Brown and Soddy Daisy EMT Glenda Knapp.

    The Dallas Bay Baptist Church Northgate Campus Lifetree Center in Hixson across from Chuck E Cheese asks how and when the world will end and exploratin and discussion on what is known and not known about the 2012 prophesies. There will two one hour time slots: one from noon until 1:00 pm and in the evening from 7:00 to 8:00 pm.

  • Town Hall Meeting with Mitch McClure on Gang Violence
    Tuesday, February 07, 2012 : 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM

    Hamilton County District 3 Commissioner Mitch McClure wants to hear from you on the issue of gang violence and the Violence Task Force. The meeting will be held at Hixson Middle School at 5681 Old Hixson Pike from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 7th.
