Richard "Red" Jones

Richard “Red” Jones passed from this life on Sunday, July 2, 2017 and was carried by the angels to the arms of God. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Gladys Roberts Jones; brothers, Harley, Arliss, T.J., and W.A. Jones; sisters, Betty Murphy and Judy Hirst; and his mother-in-law, Ovaleen Penney.

He was an Army Veteran and served for 3 years in England, Germany, France and Scotland. He retired from carpenter’s local union #74 while working at TVA Sequoyah Nuclear Plant. He was a member of Daisy Masonic Lodge for 37 years. He loved to crappie fish during the winter months and garden during the summer.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patsy Laymon Jones; son, Richard “Rickey” (Tonja) Jones; daughter, Lisa (Mitchell) Jones McClendon; grandson, Colton H. Jones, who was a special joy in Red’s life; sisters, Faye June Fahlbusch of Winter Park, FL, Mildred McPherson of Poway, CA, and Yvonne (Wendell) Harris of Dayton, TN; brother, Herby Jones of Lookout Mountain; as well as many nieces and nephews. Red is also survived by a special longtime friend, David Brackett; as well as the many other friends that he enjoyed having coffee and hanging out with at the liar’s table at Wimpies Restaurant over the years.

There will be no visitation or service. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
