Lois Marie (Pratt) Jones

February 13, 1950 ~ March 19, 2024 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Tribute

Lois “Marie” Jones, 74, of Chattanooga, TN has been healed and entered the gates of heaven on March 19, 2024. Marie was born in Blaine, TN on February 13, 1950 to Raymond & Ardell Pratt. She was an alumni of Gibbs High School in Knoxville, TN where she was a majorette. She later moved to Greensboro, NC to start a family. Back then, she could be found at the skating rink 5-6 days a week with her children, where they all three competed in roller skating, dance, figures, & freestyle. In her free time, she would often pack a bag for her & the kids to head to Myrtle Beach.

In 1987, Marie moved to Chattanooga, TN, where she later remarried to her current husband, David. Together, they owned a satellite & security company & worked in real estate. Outside of work, they devoted their spare time to their family, & took time together to enjoy their love for music, dancing, & traveling. Their favorite thing about traveling was trying new seafoods at every beach they visited. They also used their memberships to visit many botanical gardens to fulfill her love of flowers, plants, & nature.

Marie was a creative woman & had a passion for baking. She would spend hours making delicious treats like cookies and candies to spectacular birthday & wedding cakes. Her famous “Cherry Yum Yum” was a family staple at every gathering she attended. One of her most cherished gatherings that she looked forward to every year was Cookie Day with her children, grandchildren, & great-grandchildren. Together, they would spend an entire day baking & decorating cookies and candies for each of their families to take home for Christmas. This day wasn’t complete without a special Christmas Movie playing & her famous Christmas Coffee. She was tickled to pass down this special family tradition to her daughter to carry on her legacy.

While continuing her legacy, Marie will always be remembered as a strong, courageous Christian woman who has overcome many obstacles in her lifetime. Her infectious smile, welcoming spirit, & unconditional love was embraced by everyone she encountered. She truly was an example of Christ as she was the most gentle, kind, caring, loving, attentive, positive, encouraging, & forgiving daughter of Christ.

As Marie would say, “Make memories while you can as it’s the most important thing to hold onto in this life. Be present in the moment, have patience, & love like Jesus.”

She was proceeded in death by her parents Raymond & Retha Ardell Pratt, her brother Frank Pratt, nephews Frankie Pratt, Tim Pratt, & Johnny Garrett; nieces Connie Daniels & Diane McCarty; along with additional family & friends.

Her survivors are her husband of 21 years David Jones, son Jeffery Prine (Jessica), daughter Jennifer Hyma (Rick); grandchildren Stephanie Biggs (Jack), Tori Phillips (Jordan), Haley Massey (Cody), Branna Humphreys (Elijah), Makenzie Prine, Ashleigh Hyma (Ben), Austin Hyma, Caitlin Jones (Will), Trinty Clem, Caleb Prine, Lucas Evans; great grandchildren Eli, Gabe, Tenley, Liam, Tyler, Brielle, Maverick, Haven, Lakeleigh, Everly, & Dawson; siblings George Pratt (Shirley), Junior Pratt (Crissy), Juanita Garrett (Johnny), Clarence Pratt, several nieces, nephews, & extended family & friends.
