John David Forgey, 94, of Chattanooga, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 1, 2024. He was of the Baptist faith. John served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Greenland during the Korean War. He employed with Cris Craft Boat Company and Watts Bar Nuclear Plant during his working career. John was very committed to serving the Lord through the church providing transportation for children to come to church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Bertha Forgey; wife, Betty Forgey; sisters, Vieva Wilson and Lucille Jinette; brother, Atlee Forgey and granddaughter, Ashley Clift.
Survivors are his 6 children, Henry Roach (Pete), Susie O’Shields (Richard), Paul Forgey (Vivian), Vonnie Jones (Randy), Mark Forgey (Marlisha) and Amanda Cantrell (David); siblings, Mildred Neely, Ann Granger, Meta Brady, Peggy Rinks (Jack), Reba Kayler, Bonnie Green and Larry Forgey; 9 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jack Rinks officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton County Memorial Park. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
